Keep Your Eyes Peeled for the Paranormal With a Maryland History Tour

Think historical walking tours are boring? Think again. Maryland History Tours hosts a special slate of particularly entering excursions this time of year! Every September and October, its tour guides celebrate the spooky season by leading a series of spooky adventures, and this year is no exception.

Every weekend and on select weekdays, the well-versed guides take groups of up to 15 around Old Ellicott City on the Haunted Main Street tour. Starting at the Howard County Welcome Center, the 90-minute tour unveils some of the most sordid stories from Ellicott City’s 250-year history. Looking for something even more spine-tingling? The Mount Misery Ghost Walk departs from the Museum of Howard County and explores the rolling hills that rest just north of Ellicott City. They’re notorious for paranormal activity, and you’ll learn all about the ghost sightings that have occurred there over the years. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a specter yourself. Note that masks are optional on the tours, but social distancing is expected. Make sure to purchase your tickets online as they aren’t available on-site at the time of the tour.
